Skiing holidays in South Tyrol

I visited Kronplatz and San Candido and I can't recommend these areas enough. Both are great skiing areas - even early season, apparently due to state of the art snow cannons. The food is fab, I was really blown away by the mix of Italian and German influences, and I can probably count all my meals in South Tyrol in my top ten meals ever. Aside from four great days skiing, highlights included an absolutely stunning moonlit walk through a snowy forest to a mountain restaurant. It would have been quite a romantic setting if it wasn't for two tennis rackets, or snowshoes as they are officially called, tied to my feet causing me to walk very ungracefully all the way there ! The only problem with South Tyrol is that the generous restaurateurs have a habit of bringing out rounds of grappa after every meal, which results in a very wobbly walk home...
